How does a $200 Amazon gift certificate sound?
Utah Education Network’s Reimagine Teaching program has $200 gift certificates for educators that complete four hours of professional development they have not already been compensated for. Follow these steps:
1. Sign up by Oct. 1 to qualify and get updates.
2. Complete four clock hours of professional learning between June 1–December 1, 2020.
3. Submit proof of completion such as a certificate, email from the instructor or department letter.
4. Accept recognition — $200 Amazon gift card (limited quantity available).

Equitable and Inclusive Teaching Practices online course
Course begins Sept. 28 and ends Nov. 20
This online, facilitated course focuses on inclusive pedagogy and equity-minded teaching practices. This course should take approximately 2 hours per module for a total of 16 hours. Adjunct faculty will be compensated upon completion of the course.

ACUE is excited to introduce a set of free resources — including videos and downloadable planning guides — that can be immediately put to use to benefit both faculty and their students. These practices are tailored for online teaching but are also relevant to the physical classroom.

Digication 101
Sept. 24
2–3 p.m.; virtual
Attendees will learn to view and navigate student ePortfolios in new Digication, creating ePortfolios using templates, options for privacy settings and an overview of the features of the new editor. During the workshop, participants will start creating a sample page for one of their courses so they can model the expectation for students. Those who complete this training will be eligible for the ePortfolio technology badge.

This course is a 12-hour, self-paced, fully online course. Look for course code DCUC in SLCC’s training registration system.
Creating Proctored Exams in Canvas with Proctorio
Oct. 6
1:30–2:30 p.m.; virtual
Proctorio is a secure online proctoring service software that integrates with Canvas. At SLCC, Proctorio has primarily been used for online courses, but it is currently available for on-campus and hybrid courses while SLCC’s Testing Center is unavailable. Registration in SLCC’s training registration system. Look for course code DCP1.

Beyond Blue: Understanding Mental Illness
Oct. 7, 10–11:30 a.m.; virtual—a recording will be available
One in four Americans will experience a mental illness in their lifetimes; It is imperative that every employee is aware of the risks and signs of the various mental illness, as well as coping strategies and pathways to support. Facilitated by Nancy Scherlong, LCSW, PTR, M/S, Psychotherapy and Wellness Coaching, Reliant Behavioral Health.
Register for this workshop under Staff Development, although it is open to all employees.
