Summer Reading Program

Salt Lake Community College is working with the Institute of Reading Development to offer a summer reading program for those entering or enrolled in elementary, middle and high school.




This program develops and improves reading skills as well as encourages a lifelong love of learning. Students are taught the essential phonics and comprehension skills required to become a fluent reader, improve reading comprehension, or learn how to speed read. This program can also help improve vocabulary, study skills, preparation for tests, and retention techniques.

Classes will be held at SLCC's Jordan, Miller and Taylorsville Redwood campuses throughout the summer.

Each program meets once per week for five weeks. Tuition costs $269 ($199 for four year-olds and entering Kindergarteners) with a materials fee of $34 dollars. Classes for the younger students meet for one hour fifteen minutes, classes for older students range between two and two-and-a-half hours.

    I did a similar thing when I was in elementary school. Can't say anything bad about this. Reading is better then watching TV, playing video games, or about anything else a school aged child can do. college bedding for girls

Recognizing SLCC's 2025 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Andrew Vogt, PhD Associate Professor, Engineering

The Distinguished Faculty Lecturer is a recognition of quality work by one of Salt Lake Community College’s full-time faculty and a charge to develop that work over an academic year into a public presentation. A committee chosen by the Associate Provost for Learning Advancement selects the faculty lecturer each year. The lecture takes place in the spring.
