Students Take Home Medals in National SkillsUSA Competition
Salt Lake Community College students competed in the country’s largest collegiate job skills program at the 2012 SkillsUSA National Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. The College had twenty-three students competing in fifteen categories at the national competition. SLCC students won four gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal.
“We are very proud of all of our students who demonstrated the excellence required to participate in the national SkillsUSA competition and congratulate them,their club advisor Mark Kranendonk and to all of the wonderful faculty members who trained and taught them,” said SLCC Dean of the School of Technical Specialties Rick Bouillon. “Winning medals at this competition is a great validation of their skills and bodes well for their futures in their chosen professions.”
SLCC won the gold medal in the Motorcycle Service Technology competition for the second consecutive year. As it did last year, the College will again receive a $20,000 motorcycle from the Harley Davidson company for the Motorcycle and Outdoor Power Equipment program.

• Silver medal in 3D Visualization & Animation: Michael McGeorge, Charles Wood
• Silver medal in HVAC-R: Jeremy Beck
• Silver medal in Medical Assisting: Patricia McReavy
• Bronze medal in Graphic Communications: Jared Christopherson
