We couldn’t be more pleased with the partnership between Dannon Corporation and SLCC,” said SLCC Vice President of Government and Community Relations Tim Sheehan. “These are two organizations that are both firmly committed to education, to the community, and to improving the lives and well being of the people they serve.”
The College’s KGH program consists of a group of SLCC student-athletes, coaches, administrators, the Bruin cheerleaders and the Bruin Bear mascot who travel to local elementary schools promoting proper nutrition, healthy behaviors and regular physical activity. KGH offers a series of high-energy assembly events to local public elementary schools, focusing primarily on the Federal Title I institutions.
“We’re thankful for Dannon and their generosity, and we’re excited to work with them to make the lives of young people better and healthier,” said SLCC Director of Athletics Norma Carr. “KGH will now be able to do even more for the thousands of elementary students that we reach every year.”
Dannon representatives visited the College’s Taylorsville Redwood Campus and gave away 4,000 yogurt products and offered SLCC students and the local community a build-your-own parfait bar.
“I’ve learned a lot from my time with KGH,” said SLCC Softball’s sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint. “I love to give back. It’s great, we sing solos in front of hundreds of elementary kids and it really helps athletes learn to be comfortable in those kinds of situations.”
SLCC’s KGH group performed its first event of the season at the celebration. The first school assembly for KGH this fall is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Redwood Elementary.
I am confused. The home page states that free yogurts/parfaits will be given out on the TVILLE/RWD campus on Wed Sept 12th but when the link brings you here the only info lists Wed Sept at the JORDAN campus?
