From:

Born in California and raised in Utah

Major:

Media music. I’ve always enjoyed writing and creating music, and this degree allows me to do this as well as prepares me for modern music production.

Academic goals:

Graduate with an associates degree in Music.

Dream job:

Music composer, specifically for film and video games. I’ve always liked the music in both films and video games.

Plan B:

Sound/recording engineer. While working on this degree I was exposed to audio production, and I enjoyed doing it. So, I can see myself working as a sound/recording engineer.

Why higher education:
So that I can pursue a career as a composer and make a living from it.

Why SLCC:
Due to it’s cheap tuition and its industry-standard equipment and recording studio.

What motivates you or inspires you at school and/or in life:
Music plays a big part in my life. Every time I listen to music, it motives me to learn more and inspires me to create.

Important life and/or career lessons you have learned:

Following your passions requires hard work, but it’s worth it. As music major, it’s hard to avoid the stigma that a music degree is a waste or that there is no money or financial security in it. But from my experience, I can say otherwise. It is hard, but it’s worth it.

That hard work and kindness pays off

Mother, two younger brothers and one younger sister.

SLCC Business School is Utah’s First to be Named Exclusively After a Woman

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) proudly announces a partnership with the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation to modernize its Business Building and transform its School of Business. The improvements are made possible through a generous $10 million gift from the Miller Family Foundation and Gail Miller, the largest-ever single cash donation received by the college.  SLCC is renaming its Business Building the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Business Building in honor of the Miller family’s legacy and contributions to the community. The business school will be named the Gail Miller School of Business in recognition of the strong business acumen Gail Miller displays as a community leader and as the owner and immediate past chair of the Larry H. Miller Company. This name change will make SLCC home to the only business school in Utah and one of only a few in the country to be named exclusively after a woman.  “We are deeply humbled by the generosity of Gail and the Miller fam
