From:

My academic goals include to take advantage of internship opportunities, apply to as many scholarships as I can and develop healthy academic habits.

Dream job:

My dream job is to be an immigration attorney I want to be able to help my community and make a difference in the lives of others.

If my dream job doesn't work out, I would probably turn my hobbies into a career, one of them being pottery! It would be awesome to have a pottery business, wheel thrown pottery to be exact. It’s both satisfying and fulfilling to my soul.

Why higher education:

I'm pursuing higher education to be able to achieve my career and life goals. Higher education has opened many doors for me, and as I move forward, it only gets better!

Being a first-generation student, I felt more comfortable starting my higher education journey at a small institution such as SLCC where I already knew advisors who I have worked with since high school through the PACE Scholarship Program. Campus is also very close to home, and having a backup plan in mind, I knew that even without PACE I would still be able to afford my tuition in the long run.

What motivates you or inspires you at school and/or in life:

My mentors, family, and friends, and my dreams and goals are what keep me going!

Important life and/or career lessons you have learned so far:

Don’t limit yourself to opportunities because you don’t feel ready, just do it!

Best advice you have been given or that you give others:

Don’t let people’s perceptions of you dictate your life, live the life you want!

I’m the oldest of three girls, and my family is from Mexico!

Hobbies:

I love doing wheel-thrown pottery, calligraphy, playing sports, going on hikes, traveling with friends, and trying new foods!
