You have to love a contest where everyone gets to eat the
entries in the end, which is exactly what happened Wednesday during the 2015
Edible Book contest held annually at the Markosian Library on Salt Lake
Community College’s Taylorsville Redwood Campus.
This year’s winners were: Most Humorous, Krystal Rose; Most
Literary, Isaiah Montoya; Most Edible, Kristina Fox; Most Artistic, Stephen
Brown; and People’s Choice, Nicci Rivetti and Russ Bridge (this category is
judged on non-tasting elements only). The People’s Choice “Smaug Cake” was made
with white cake, Rice Krispies, and fondant icing and was adorned with
chocolate coins.
Judges this year were: Sandra Kikuchi, SLCC director of Faculty
Services and Study Abroad; Susan Neal, Studio 5 TV cooking contributor; Nirali
Patel, SLCC student senator over diversity and Inclusivity; Tiffany Rousculp,
SLCC associate professor of English; and Gordon Storrs, SLCC student advisor
and chair of the Art Committee.
The annual contest is open to SLCC students, staff, faculty
and administrators. For more information visit the SLCC Libraries Edible Books
Festival and Contest link.
