Nanotechnology: Exploring the Vast World of Small Things

Dr. Jim Smith received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, while focusing on the physics of nano-scale plastic composites.  His enthusiasm in this field has driven his business accomplishments as a founder of Wasatch Microfluidics, LLC. and three other Utah based technology companies.  His varied scholarly research encompasses development of novel materials for the advancement of pharmaceutical research, green alternatives for energy generation and storage, and enhanced structural components used in building construction projects.  Dr. Smith embraces opportunities to teach science and engineering students about the impacts of nanotechnology in their fields of endeavor at Salt Lake Community College
