Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Todd Phillips announced the signing of University of California-Davis (UC-Davis) transfer Tyrell Corbin.
Corbin started in 23 games at point guard last season for the UC-Davis Aggies. Corbin, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs in at 176 lbs., averaged 6.3 points and three assists in 23.5 minutes per game for UC-Davis in 2011-12.
“I think that Corbin is going to fit nicely into our up-tempo style of offense this year. We really want to push the ball up the floor this season, and he can really go,” said Phillips. “Tyrell will bring a great knowledge of basketball and will be a key asset for us because of his maturity. He will be a great facilitator for our team because he can really distribute the ball and we’re excited to have him.”
Corbin is the son of Utah Jazz Head Coach Tyrone Corbin. He was named “Mr. Basketball” by the Deseret News in 2011 for his play at West High School where he scored an average of 24.8 points per game and led his team to the 4A Utah State Championship as a sophomore
