Teaching a diverse
group of students to understand each other’s style of leadership and how they
can work together.
Juana Bordas was the first president and CEO of the National
Hispana Leadership Institute and founder of Mi Casa Women’s Center in
Denver, Colorado. Her work has had a positive impact in Asian, African American
and Native American communities, in addition to the Latino and Hispanic
communities.
Her book Salsa,
Soul, and Spirit: Leadership for a Multicultural Age won the 2008
International Latino Book Award for best leadership/business book and puts
forth a socially responsible model that resonates with America’s growing
diversity. Bordas’ book was chosen as the Book of the Year to read by the
President’s Leadership Institute for the 2011-2012 school year.
