This self-paced, three-hour Canvas course provides you with information, guidance, and instructions that will help you create an effective full-time faculty professional portfolio. Register in the SLCC Registration System under the department “ePortfolio.”

No doubt about it: we are all under a lot of stress right now. Did you know that writing can be useful tool for coping with it? In fact, writing regularly has been shown to reduce anxiety and improve one’s mood. In this workshop, you’ll learn:

Course opens Jan. 4, 2021
In this online, facilitated, self-paced course, you will learn to use the key features of Canvas. This 12-hour course is designed for all faculty, including full-time and adjunct instructors. The course is self-paced, so novice and experienced Canvas users can complete this course as quickly as possible. This course is facilitated by SLCC instructional technologists and instructional designers who are available to answer questions and provide feedback. Successful completion of this course satisfies the Canvas competency requirement for eLearning’s companion course, the Online Teacher Credential course. For more information about the Canvas User Credential visit https://tinyurl.com/slcc4cred

Online Teacher Credential course
Register anytime now–Feb. 3 (or until course fills)
Course runs Feb. 8–Mar. 29, 2021
This course is a fully online, 6-week course. You will spend approximately 1-3 hours each week engaged in this course for a total of 16 hours. Adjunct instructors will be compensated for 16 hours.
This training is for all faculty who want to teach online at SLCC. Faculty should complete this training prior to teaching an online course. The course is taught in an online cohort so the participants can experience what it's like to be an online student and learn research-based best practices and expectations of being an online instructor at SLCC.

Looking to make ePortfolio more relevant to your course?

ePortfolio Bootcamp
Jan. 7, 2021
1:00-4:00pm
This intensive ePortfolio training will help faculty more effectively explain and use ePortfolios in their courses. Participants will learn how to integrate ePortfolios in course syllabi, signature assignments, and develop effective reflection activities and prompts. Faculty will also learn how to model ePortfolio pages for their students using the school’s ePortfolio platform, Digication. In addition, there will be a brief introduction to the benefits of creating your own professional portfolio. Those who complete this training will be eligible for the ePortfolio pedagogy badge.

SLCC's Undergraduate Annual Research Conference Registration Deadline

Salt Lake Community College’s annual Undergraduate Projects, Performances, Presentations, and Research Conference (UP3RC) is set to take place on April 2, at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, offering students a chance to showcase their academic achievements, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange.  The UP3RC is an annual event designed to celebrate and highlight the academic accomplishments of undergraduate students. It provides a supportive environment for students to share their work, hone their presentations skills, receive constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions with their peers and faculty. All SLCC departments and programs, including faculty and staff, are encouraged to support and visit the day of the event. You’re Invited to A Party! Open House Kicks off New Herriman Campus

  Complimentary food truck fare, live music, and family activities spotlight new campus.   There’s something for everyone at the upcoming Herriman Campus Community Open House on Friday, August 4 (3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). See schedule below.   The public is invited to celebrate the opening of this new campus with festivities that include free local food truck fare, live music, and a Mocktail Mixer, where you can mingle with others, including Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and University of Utah (U of U) faculty.   Families with kids can engage in face painting and a craft station, see the Super Mario Brothers movie, and high-five mascots Brutus, Swoop and Yeti.   This is an opportunity to have some summer fun for all ages and to check out the Juniper building on the new 88-acre SLCC Herriman campus.    At the open house, prospective students and their families can meet SLCC and U of U faculty and staff, take a tour the building, or even check out the Application & Transfer Lab a
