Managing Anxiety in the Workplace

We all get anxious at times. But what do you do when anxiety is disrupting your job? This course provides resources to help you manage your anxiety and be more effective and successful at work. Dr. Srini Pillay, a Harvard-trained psychologist, explains how to recognize anxiety and understand when you need clinical help. For those who can manage day to day, he provides guidance to navigate the ins and outs of the workplace: from finding a job to having more successful interactions with coworkers. He also provides productivity strategies designed to help you manage conflict, technology hiccups, and work-related stress.

Join SLCC faculty Heidi O’Donoghue and Andrea Malouf each week for Meditative Pause for People in Higher Education. We’ll explore breathing and relaxation techniques, as well as best practices for mindful communication and well-being. Each session will include a very brief introduction to the weekly topic, a guided meditation and then a short group reflection.

No prior experience or registration required. Just join when you can. If you’d like to receive weekly web-ex reminders, please send your email and your department name to Andrea (andrea.malouf@slcc.edu) or Heidi (heidi.o’donoghue@slcc.edu). Or just email with questions.

The Center for Prior Learning Receives an Honorable Mention

Today, SLCC's Credit for Prior Learning department received an Honorable Mention from the  Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL ) and the  Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education  for its intentional approach and for expanding student options to receive credit for prior learning.  Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)  allows students to obtain college credit for knowledge and skills acquired outside of the traditional academic environment. This is exceptionally beneficial for adult learners, who, according to CAEL, have a 17% higher chance of graduating compared to those adults who don’t earn credits through prior learning programs. The CPL department at SLCC was created in 2020 and since then the volume of students served has grown as the department continues to expand. To be eligible for CPL, students must be working towards a degree, certificate, or apprenticeship. Director of Credit for Prior Learning at SLCC, Andrea Tipton, mentioned fee...

The committee is composed of representatives from the Utah Board of Higher Education and SLCC trustees, facul...
